October 10, 2025 – Nashville, TN. If you’ve missed the rich sound of Katie Cole’s voice, you are in for a treat. Katie is back with a brand new single called ‘Roses’ that highlights her signature vocal as well as her descriptive and imaginative storytelling.
Katie shares: “This one is definitely about being true to yourself. If someone wants your love, attention or time, then it’s worth fighting for. Maybe you’ll get a few scratches and scrapes. I’m not a hard person to deal with. I’m pretty pragmatic, but I am firm and I know what I want and what I don’t want.”
I’ve listened to and have been a fan of pretty much everything Katie puts out and this song does not disappoint. In fact, I’m almost hearing something a little different vocally from her. I swear there’s an extra gear of emotion and grit to her voice. Don’t get me wrong that sweet tone is always there but I feel an extra push somewhere inside that is so satisfying to my ears.
Go listen to the bridge and the quick pop back into the chorus. It’s a thing of beauty.
Another highlight for me is the production of ‘Roses’. In my opinion there seems to be a lot of care and hard work that has gone into this song. Everything is put together so perfectly I cannot imagine a better mix. The kick is full and pronounced all the while not taking any space away from the bassline that is, to be honest, quite amazing. Mix in some organs, electric pianos and a full of tone guitars to an incredible vocal track and you have ‘Roses’.
Katie has surrounded herself with an elite caliber group of musicians and production team. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better sounding song right now, sonics-wise. ‘Roses’ was written by Katie Cole and produced, mixed and engineered by Howard Willing. Rounding out the track is:
- Keys by Tim Lauer
- Bass by Mark Hill
- Guitars by Sam Hunter
- Drums by Adam Schreiber
- Mastered by Dan Shike / Tone and Volume
I definitely recommended giving this one some undivided attention. I know, as I have listened multiple times, I have been amazed at the little nuances that seem to keep popping out with every play.
Katie says this was inspired by some of her 60’s and 70’s rock icons like Faces, The Rolling Stones, Elton John and Janis Joplin.
And finally, Katie shares one more thing: “This song is 100% dedicated to my mum who would call it “one of your good ones” because of the rock style infused into it.”
