The Chicago based duo of Aatmaa has released a second single from their upcoming debut album entitled – ‘Cataclysm’. ‘The Worst in People’ is a 6:40 juggernaut that delves into the darkness that can be life.
Set some time aside, put on your earbuds and close your eyes. You will be whisked away and wanting more when you get through the first listen of this song.
This new track follows the dark themes in the bands first single, ‘Hidden Bruises’. It was that debut track that first grabbed my attention. It’s mix of haunting, dream-like state and powerful boosts, kept my interest the entire time. I loved the duos use of time signatures and killer guitars during the song. Call me crazy but I could almost feel the band throwing in subtle jazz progressions in spots.
Vocals should not be overlooked on these songs. There’s something hypnotic in the way Shara delivers her lyrics and screams. It’s like a wormhole that takes the listener on a journey.
Ashwin and Shara Deepanka have created a unique sound of their own while presenting it in a way that any music fan can appreciate. Based on these two singles, we are going to have an epic collection of songs in front of us when the album finally drops on June 7th.
