Alice Cooper – Detroit Stories
Alice Cooper has announced that his Covid-19 delayed album, ‘Detroit Stories’, will be released on February 26, 2021.
As the album title suggests it was inspired by Alice Cooper’s hometown, Detroit. Early in Alice Cooper’s career he travelled around the country trying to make it, but it wasn’t until he returned to his hometown that his style of guitar heavy rock caught on.
As Alice describes it, ““Los Angeles had its sound with The Doors, Love and Buffalo Springfield, San Francisco had the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane. New York had The Rascals and The Velvet Underground. But Detroit was the epicenter for angry hard rock. After not fitting in anywhere in the US (musically or image-wise) Detroit was the only place that recognized the Alice Cooper guitar driven, hard rock sound.”
‘Detroit Stories’ will be Alice Cooper’s 21st studio album and will feature Detroit-area musicians Wayne Kramer, Johnny Badanjek, and Paul Randolph.
Producer, Bob Ezrin, returns to work with Alice Cooper on ‘Detroit Stories’. Bob Ezrin said about the album, “We had musical ideas and encouragement from John Varvatos, the support of the folks at Shinola, and we recorded at Rustbelt Studios in Royal Oak. This was Made In Detroit for Detroit by Detroit denizens!”
The first single from the album will be a cover of Velvet Underground’s “Rock ‘n’ Roll. The single will be released on Friday November 13, which is very on brand for Alice Cooper.
