Ashley Monroe – Rosegold

Ashley Monroe announced she will be releasing her new album ‘Rosegold’ on April 30. This is Ashley’s first studio album since 2018’s ‘Sparrow’ and will be released via Mountainrose Sparrow/Thirty Tigers. Along with the new album announcement she released her brand new single ‘Drive’. You can watch the video for ‘Drive’ below.

“I had this chorus and idea when I went in to write with Mikey Reaves and Niko Moon on September 10 (my birthday),” Monroe said in a statement about the new single. “I told them my dad/other angels always send special songs on my birthday. It didn’t take long into the session until we knew we were on to a special one. I always imagine me singing this while driving on a desert highway.”

On her Facebook page Ashley said of the new album:

“The last couple of years I started hearing specific melodies I could not deny. They were heavenly, lush, and the melodies even brought me to tears while writing. It felt like the fire of love. I also started paying attention to music that gave me chills every time I listen. Sometimes it was Kanye, Childish Gambino, Beck, Cake, Celine and Whitney. Sometimes it was The Beach Boys, Eagles, Queen and Ben E. King. I was led to create this music from a new place influenced by all of the above. 

I’ve always loved sad songs (and still do) and I’m good at writing those because I’ve had a lot of sad in my life, but The Spirit told me to hold on to love this time, amplify it, harmonize with it, freeze it, and hopefully, make other people feel it as well. I hope you do.”
