DED – A Mannequin Idol (Lullaby)
Arizona rock band DED have released their high octane, brand new music video for their explosive lead radio single ‘A Mannequin Idol (Lullaby)’ – The video, directed by renowned director Marc Klasfeld (Slipknot, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Highly Suspect), premiered digitally via Noisey and made its broadcast debut on Music Choice. This visuals are a stunning example of what a hard rock performance video should look like. Everything from the color grade to the camera movements all support the high energy aura that band gives off during its performance.
‘A Mannequin Idol (Lullaby)’ was produced by powerhouse rock producer Kevin Churko (Five Finger Death Punch, Ozzy Osbourne, Disturbed). Churko was at the helm for DED’s entire forthcoming sophomore studio album due out later this year on Suretone Records. As a fan of Kevin Churko’s production credits thus far, I can say that this song did not disappoint. It’s powerful but the dynamics remain, especially during the surprisingly melodic choruses. It’s a great job all around on this track. The roaring single, which is quickly climbing the Active Rock radio chart with key playlist support across streaming services, questions what we consume and what we choose to support, taking on the fake, surface level, vein aspects of our society that infiltrate our lives and influence our perception of what’s real.
DED is – Joe Cotela (vocals), David Ludlow (guitar), KyleKoelsch (bass), and Matt Reinhard (drums)-may appear to be nihilistic, hell-raising anarchists upon first glance, but they’re here to uplift, empower and contribute something positive to society. During this challenging time of quarantine and isolation as the world responds to the COVID-19 pandemic, DED’s message of hope, self-care, the importance of looking after one another, and being aware of how our behaviors affect not only our own mental health but each other, is needed now more than ever.
In addition to being one of the stronger bangers to date this year, I like the way they are addressing some of the issues that exist in today’s world that many artists are not in a hurry to write about. Plus the titles’ play on words is stellar. In short – I’m into it.
DED’s full length album is expected later this year via Suretone Records. We will definitely be keeping our eyes out for that one. Until then enjoy this hard rockin’ video.
