Ed Sheeran – Afterglow
Over the weekend Ed Sheeran started teasing his fans of a “Christmas present” via his Instagram. Well, this morning he released his new single “Afterglow. This is the first new music Ed Sheeran has released since he dropped “No. 6 Collaborations Project” in 2019.
In a statement that went along with his release on Instagram Sheeran said, “Hey guys. Afterglow is a song I wrote last year that I wanted to release for you. It’s not the first single from the next album, it’s just a song I love, and hope you love too. Enjoy ! Have a safe and happy festive break and New Year’s. Back to dad land for me now, ciao x”
The “Shape of You” singer has probably been pretty busy while working on creating new music. Ed Sheeran and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, had their first child back in August.
Ed Sheeran garnered international success with the release + (Plus) and kept rolling with follow up albums x (Multiply) and ÷ (Divide). ÷ was the best-selling album in the world in 2017. “Shape of You” was also the best-selling single in 2017 worldwide.
Along with his own music, Ed Sheeran has also written hits for many other artists including Justin Bieber, One Direction, and Tim McGraw. He has also featured with artists like Taylor Swift, Eminem, and Lil Dicky.
While his statement on Instagram kind of implies that he is working/starting work on a new album nothing has yet been announced. A year ago he announced via his Instagram that he would be taking a break from music and touring. In the statement, he said, “I promise to be back with some new music when the time is right and I’ve lived a little more to actually have something to write about.”
