The Vegabonds – V

On January 18, 2019, The Vegabonds are making their label debut with Blue Elan Records with the album ‘V’. Recorded at Tom Tapley’s recording studio in Atlanta, Georgia, the band has emerged with an album that has a big, warm and catchy sound to it. I felt like I was listening to the spawn of a couple bands that I love – .38 Special and 3 Doors Down. A comparison that lead vocalist and songwriter Daniel Allen says he’ll take, all day.
Daniel tells Sound Vapors, “We actually did this record a different than we’ve done any record. Anytime that we were kind of traveling or playing around Atlanta, we would stop in for a couple of days, record some songs with Tom so that he could keep his steady work going so he didn’t have to travel to Nashville. It was actually a cool process this time. We got to, surprisingly, spend more time on the record by doing it that way.”
Daniel is understandably excited for the album’s release. There are eight songs on it and they all have their own personality but amazingly all flow into the album creating, what I call a very listenable album. It’s one that you might find yourself putting on repeat. I asked Daniel about the thought process behind including only eight song after writing as many as forty for it. He says, “Honestly, on this one, our mentality was, we’re only putting bangers on here. We’re putting what we feel are the hits that were written.”
We talked about his writing process and he tells me that on this record it was as simple as waking up in the morning, getting a cup of coffee and being by himself and just writing.
