If you listen to rock music and you are somewhere around the Detroit Metro area – then you’ve probably heard Meltdown on the air over at Detroit’s legendary rock station WRIF. He’s currently your guy from 3-7PM weekdays and brings his own brand of enthusiasm and humor to Detroit airwaves. I can tell you from listening experience that his four-play at four isn’t as standard as you might think. He uses his social media accounts to ask listeners to give him suggestions for a four song playlist but sometimes with a theme. He might wrap the show around a trending hashtag like #NationalVideoGamesDay or 4 songs centered around a birthday like, that of Joe Perry from Aerosmith. It’s a pretty fun way to include the audience in deciding what is getting played at 4pm.
I had the chance to speak with Meltdown about being on the air in Detroit for over 23 years, his killer Talkin’ Rock w/ Meltdown Podcast, his favorite Red Wings players and some of his memorable interviews that he’s had over the years including Gene Simmons of Kiss, Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains, Tom Keifer of Cinderella and most recently Gavin Rossdale of Bush.
