Shallou – Magical Thinking | Silhouettes
Maybe it’s everything going on in the world. Maybe it’s the need to escape, even for a moment or two. As the world tries to wait out COVID19, I am blessed to listen to new music on a daily basis. Whatever the reason, I was whisked away from it all for about four minutes from a song off of Shallou’s debut album – Magical Thinking out March 27th via Island Records. The song Silhouettes ft. Vancouver Sleep Clinic, takes the listeners’ mind to far away places that can only be achieved during a song or moment like this.
There’s almost an otherworldly feel to it as the track builds slowly from the outset. Right before the pulsating kick drum comes in, the lyric says, “We can fix this broken mind and make it brand new.” Optimistic words and music. This is something we could all use right now.
In your earphones, you will be treated to a wide mix with little sparkles happening across the entire spectrum. Perhaps my favorite part is around 2:44 at the songs bridge when a soothing noise comes at you seemingly in three’s over a 4/4 time signature. It’s a brain tease and a cool part of the song.
If you’re having a tough day.. I recommend you go listen to this one right away and lose yourself.. even for a few minutes.
