I don’t have to tell you who Taylor Swift is. You already know.
But if you fell asleep on her new record and didn’t give it your undivided attention, you’re missing out on something special. The song I’ve chosen to write about today is Lover. It’s also the name of the album.
There are a few reasons why I present this song to you. One, is that there are a couple of different sounds that Taylor Swift has in her repertoire. While Shake It Off is among my all time favorites of hers, Lover demonstrates that thing that really draws me into her music. To hear the tone of her voice backed by subtle but still powerful music is pure singer-songwriter bliss.
Two, that bridge. Starts around 2:20 and at 2:26 – that key change gave me a bit of a chill. Something that all great songwriters tend to do.
Three, being it was solely written by Swift. I love hearing the point of view from the writer and it becomes more real and digs deeper into my thought process when it comes fully from the artist.
