Podcast: Christmas Special With Nina Schofield

Nina Schofield and I decided it was time to co-host another podcast episode but this time it was to talk about all things Christmas!  Originally, we planned to list our favorite Christmas and Holiday Songs and compare the two.  However, bridging together two countries to talk about each’s holiday traditions, we’d be re-missed to stay on the surface.  Plus – this podcast is now an award winning show.  It’s an award we’ve made up for bringing our two countries together for Christmas – but, still an award.  Although, I’m not sure if we ever actually named the award.  Hmmm we’ll deal, later.

Among the other topics we covered were the obvious ones like Holiday Films and Christmas Trees.  But we also talked about much deeper and serious issues like, egg nog consumption, the massive – glugging of Pepsi epidemic that appears to be rampant across the U.K. and Kelly Clarkson’s interviewing style.  Of course, I’m kidding about those things (expect Kelly Clarkson, seriously, I would excuse myself and go to the bathroom (go listen for a full explanation)).  But to be truthful, outside of our practicing one another’s countries accents, the most important area of the show was the music.  A passion that we both share.  And while she’s completely wrong in not having the Band Aid classic – Do They Know It’s Christmas – on her list (just kidding, Nina!), she placed some songs that are now on my radar and this Holiday Season has now been enhanced, greatly.

A couple songs made both of our lists.  Paul McCartney’s Wonderful Christmastime and Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You.  Please take a moment to enjoy both!

We also agreed that if the Wham! classic hit – Last Christmas has never hit number 1 in England on Christmas Day – That it is a travesty and needs to happen this year!  Truth is, either one of us actually knows if this is a fact.  Either way, it’s just the song to kick of the Christmas Season.  Here’s some of the other songs that each of us listed, to round out our ten choices:

Nina

Kelly Clarkson – Underneath The Tree

Bob Dylan – Must Be Santa (ho, ho, ho cherry nose!)

Andy Williams – It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

Michael Buble / Ariana Grande – Santa Clause Is Coming To Town

Nightmare Before Christmas – What’s This

Libera – Carol Of The Bells

Pentatonix – That’s Christmas To Me

Little Mix – One I’ve Been Missing

Tommy

Band Aid – Do They Know It’s Christmas

Wham! – Last Christmas

Bruce Springsteen – Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

Elmo & Patsy – Grandma Got Ran Over By Reindeer (I know.. I know)

Bobby Helms – Jingle Bell Rock

Burl Ives – A Holly Jolly Christmas

Dean Martin – Baby Its Cold Outside

Bob Rivers – 12 Pains Of Christmas

Not bad, right?  We’d love to hear some of your picks of your favorite Christmas songs of all time!

Nina is easily one of my all time favorite people that I’ve had the pleasure to speak with on the podcast.  She’s good natured, very funny and has a wonderful voice!  She even treated us to a little snippet of Winter Wonderland.  To hear the entire jammed packed episode, click on the link to your favorite place to listen to podcasts.  I cannot promise you that you won’t be sorry you did but it is after-all an award winning show.  So you should be safe.  Just have to figure out the actual name of the award.
