Porter Robinson – Nurture
It has been seven years since Porter Robinson released his debut album ‘Worlds’. During that time the songwriter has gone through many hardships including success induced anxiety and his brother being diagnosis with a very rare form of cancer. Porter seems to have funneled the emotions of these times into creating new music and will be releasing his new album ‘Nurture’ on April 23 through Mom + Pop.
Along with the announcement of the new album Porter also released the fourth single off the album, “Look at the Sky”. In a press release Porter described the new single as, “a song about hope”. “Look at the Sky” was originally debuted during Porter’s Secret Sky 2020 virtual music festival back in May of last year. The virtual festival was seen by over 4 million people and featured artists G Jones and Jai Wolf.
Other singles that have already been released off of ‘Nurture’ are “Get Your Wish” released in January 2020, “Something Comforting” released in March 2020, and “Mirror” released this past August.
Read Porter Robinson’s statement about “Look at the Sky” below:
“’Look at the Sky’ is fundamentally a song about hope. There’s no shortage of fuel for despair, but you can’t take meaningful action to improve things if you don’t have some belief that things might get better. That’s what hope is, and I think it’s an emotion worth nourishing. I wrote this song at my lowest point emotionally, when I thought I couldn’t make music anymore, and I wasn’t sure if my existence would have any meaning if I couldn’t make music. In the lyrics, I’m sort of imagining what life would be like once I was on the other side of all that fear and anxiety and sadness. I’m happy to report that it’s amazing on the other side of all this, and I’m so glad I had hope and persisted.”
