Ridi has released a remix version of her highly successful song ‘Top Guy’. The music video for the track is closing in on nearly 2 million views on YouTube and brings along with it a strong message. Being a victim of bullying herself, Ridi looks to ease the mind of anyone struggling with the same issues and urges them to stand up for themselves. In the videos’ description Ridi says, “This song was written at a point in my life where everyone thought I was the bad guy because I didn’t stay silent. I hope when you listen it will empower you to remember that if standing up for yourself makes you the bad guy, that’s ok! You should just shout back even louder! Stay strong & don’t let them drown your voice.”
In school Ridi found herself constantly surrounded by the pressure to fit in and being victimized when she did not. Subjected to countless rumors, constant cyber hate, and other forms of bullying—a teenager’s worst nightmare—Ridi decided to take matters into her own hands. She wanted to help the millions of others around the world in similar situations to embrace their own individuality and, at the same time, heal from the hate. And so in October 2020, Ridi and her sister, Vasundhara, co-founded the non-profit “Stop the B.”
The “Stop the B’ campaign promotes awareness around the issues of bullying and encourages others to become active bystanders. By learning more about the various forms of verbal, emotional, and social violence that can occur, others can become engaged in combating the problem. Ridi also encourages her fellow survivors to share their stories in order to rid themselves of the negative stigma attached to talking about being victimized or being afraid to be different, her personal message being, “It’s okay to be different.”
Ridi has used this positive message as inspiration and fuel to launch her pop music career and her trajectory is definitely pointing straight up to the stars. I will be keeping a close eye on this rising artist.
