Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon
The Voidz – Alien Crime Lord
The Voidz were on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to perform their new single “Alien Crime Lord”. The song was released earlier this week and coincides with The Voidz lead singer’s new Grand Theft Auto Online radio station, ‘K.U.L.T. 99.1 Vespucci Beach, “Low Power Beach Radio”.
The radio station that was added in the new update will have a guest appearance from Mac DeMarco and feature songs from Joy Division and Velvet Underground.
In a press release about ‘Alien Crime Lord’ the band said that they, “wanted to make a song that sounded like Jean Claude Van Damme standing up on a speeding motorcycle while firing perfect bullets through the windshield of an oncoming nemesis, then finishing the job with a controlled flip over the top of the vehicle that ends in a maelstrom of denim and flames”
The Tonight Show performance featured Casablancas in a cool Phoenix Suns warm-up shirt from the 1990s and tv screens with psychedelic imagery on them.
Julian Casablancas is also the lead singer of the Strokes who released a new album in April of this year. The Voidz (originally named Julian Casablancas + The Voidz) were formed in 2013 and have released two studio albums since then.
Grand Theft Auto V is a video game originally released in 2013. Grand Theft Auto Online is a part of the game and was released two weeks after the release of the game itself. There have been many updates to Grand Theft Auto Online but the solo-mission part of Grand Theft Auto V has been pretty much left untouched. The update also includes a cut-scene with cameos from Jimmy Iovine, Dr. Dre, and DJ Pooh. Previous updates have included rappers Danny Brown and Tyler The Creator.
