‘15’ by Tommy Marz feat. Jeff Schroeder & Electropoint
When you’re young and losing a love, it tends to feel like the end of the world. When you get older, perspectives change and hopefully you have learned so much from those experiences and found yourself in a happy place. Thanks to Tommy Marz, I’m thinking about how that perspective changes with time and what it was like to be 15. I’m listening to the new single “15” off the upcoming EP by Tommy Marz featuring Jeff Schroeder & Electropoint. The song reflects on young love and what it’s like to lose that love at 15.
“I wanted to tell a familiar story that could resonate with a lot of people and possibly bring back
some cherished memories, reveals Marz. “‘15’ is about being a teenager in love, and the father
of one of the teens needing to uproot the family. One’s first inclination may be to run away but
the further you get, the more you realize it might not be the right answer — you just hope that
both of you turn out fine. However, you’ll never forget the day the other one had to leave, and
that last moment together.”
I could really get lost in the nostalgia of the story told through the “15”. Just about everyone can relate to this story in some way. And while this song may likely invoke some core teenage memories, I want to make sure that there is no attention lost on the truly wonderful musical precision behind this song. The partnership between Tommy Marz, Jeff Schroeder and Electropoint is nothing short of pop song genius, with killer guitar riffs! Tommy is a fantastic singer-songwriter. His voice lends so well with this song pulling off an overall great vibe! Jeff Schroeder brings sweltering guitar into the mix with Electropoint’s professional production creating a pop song that is likely to fuse with your soul and become a permanent staple on your playlist. Tommy Marz and Jeff Schroeder each have stood out in their own right throughout their careers. The two make a really great pair. They are both so highly skilled and multi-talented in their own way. With “15”, we get another glimpse into what these two are capable of together.
“Upon hearing ‘15’ the first time, I knew it was a song I wanted to be involved with,” says
Schroeder, who is known for his alternative rock solo work and as a member of The Smashing
Pumpkins. “Tommy has a magical way of translating human experiences into the framework of a
catchy pop song. I was honored that he gave me the artistic freedom to play both a melodic but
high energy solo on the track.”
The song is produced by Billboard-charting producer and artist Electropoint. The new song marks the third single from a forthcoming EP release for Marz (exact details TBA). Previous singles, Marz’s “Summer Treasure” and his Harry Styles cover of “From the Dining Table” have both charted on the iTunes Top 20 and are approaching 250k streams (combined) on Spotify.
