‘Drugs No More’, the new video from the Nashville based project Creamer, was released on June 28th. The song which is from the upcoming album that is slated for a September release, has a throwback feel. Not only does the song have a throwback feel, the look of the band gives us a cool retro vibe.
The songs starts with a smooth electric piano followed by the entire band and singer-songwriter Philip Creamers’s terrific double tracked vocals. But for me the highlight is that chorus. It’s extremely catchy. You may even find yourself singing along with it:
“Drugs no more/I don’t believe in drugs no more/Cause you get me high as the sun/I’ll never come down from this.”
Of all of the 60’s and 70’s comparisons that will eventually be made with Creamer, I want to add that, truthfully, without the visual from the video I felt a strong Brendan Benson meets Alan Parson’s Project thing going. And I liked it right away.
While connecting with Wilco/The Autumn Defense’s multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone, Philip has put together a nice release here. We are excited to hear what comes next.
