Cave In – Shake My Blood
Gibson TV – The Songbook
GIBSON TV has premiered a new episode of the series titled “THE SONGBOOK” the acoustic-driven, all-performance series features stripped down performances from renowned artists and up-and-coming musicians in beautiful spaces across the globe.
In this new episode of “THE SONGBOOK,” guitarist/vocalist Steven Brodsky and guitarist Adam McGrath from CAVE IN sit down for a stunning play through of the song “Shake My Blood” from the band’s latest album Final Transmission. A deeply personal record, it was completed after the tragic death of CAVE IN’s founding bassist Caleb Scofield.
The song “Shake My Blood” was my first opportunity to express what I was feeling about the whole situation,” Brodsky explained at the time of the album’s release. “It’s a mix of extreme grief, frustration and anger. I was trying to do something to gain the clearest answer about whatever the next move might be.”
Of their appearance on “THE SONGBOOK,” Brodsky and McGrath offer in a joint statement, “It was very cool of Gibson to have us perform an acoustic version of a Cave In song. We even snuck in part of a Joe Walsh song that day, jamming fireside in a canyon in Los Angeles last fall. As fans of sixties and seventies California folk/country/psych, the location and vibe was right up our alley.”
Filmed on location in Laurel Canyon, watch GIBSON TV’s “THE SONGBOOK” as CAVE IN reigns in their heavy sound and plays fan favorites while delving into the history of the band and talking about their creative process.
This a great setting to a terrific performance and story-telling session. They explain the origin of the song as well as talk about their “secret C tuning”! You’ll definitely want to check this one out.
