Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak – Silk Sonic

Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak both announced on their Instagram pages that they will be releasing a new project under the name Silk Sonic. The first single off the new album will be released March 5 but there is currently no news on the name of the track or a release date for the album. The new album will be titled ‘An Evening with Silk Sonic’.

The artwork for the album cover says that the album will feature Parliament Funkadelic bassist Bootsy Collins “as special guest host” on the new album.

On his Instagram page Bruno Mars said, “We locked in and made an album. The band’s called Silk Sonic. First song drops next Friday 3/5”.

Anderson .Paak said on his Instagram, “Verified

WE MADE AN ALBUM!! YALL GET THE FIRST SONG NEXT FRIDAY 3/5!! ROCKET EMOJIS AND ALL THAT!!!”

This will not be the first time the Grammy-winning artists have collaborated together. Back in 2017 Anderson .Paak opened for Bruno Mars on his ‘24K Magic’ tour. On that tour the duo reportedly worked on music together with Disclosure and Nile Rogers at Abbey Road. Both artists were featured separately on Chic’s 2018 album ‘It’s About Time’.

Bruno Mars last released an album in 2016 when he dropped ‘24K Magic’. The album went on to win multiple Grammys including Album of the Year. Anderson .Paak released his most recent album in 2019 when he released ‘Ventura’. ‘Ventura’ earned Anderson a Grammy for Best R&B Album and another for Best R&B Performance for “Come Home” that featured Andre 3000.
