With some recording artists, I find myself locking into the little things they do in their songs. Carly Shea has a really cool way of incorporating interesting key changes just when you least expect them. I’ve already fallen in love with the way she approaches her melodies and wrote about it HERE when she dropped her last single ‘Forever’.
On this new track, Waste My Time, a similar thing happened to my ears. The end of the opening line goes – “that I can’t explain”. She veers off of the straight vocal harmony to different key. This is something I love in songs and Carly seems to do it with ease.
The beat in addition to her vocal tone is intoxicating. Like I said, when you start to get to know an artists’ nuances and like them, you sometimes find yourself in a familiar place that you don’t really want to leave from. This is where I’m at with Carly Shea.
The video has the subject’s in for a wild night and I loved all of the visuals that came along with it. The video has great movement and color. Go give this one a watch and maybe you’ll get lost in it, just as I have.
