EGO KILL TALENT ANNOUNCE ACOUSTIC EP SERIES
FALL FESTIVAL PERFORMANCES ON DECK, WHICH MARK THE BAND’S LIVE DEBUT IN THE U.S.
Rock band Ego Kill Talent — Jonathan Dörr [vocals], Jean Dolabella [drums, guitar], Raphael Miranda [drums, bass], Niper Boaventura [guitar, bass], and Theo Van Der Loo [bass, guitar] — released their new album The Dance Between Extremes earlier this year. It arrived with much acclaim from critics and from fellow musicians. Now, the Brazilian band will release Ego Kill Talent: Acoustic, a series of 3 acoustic EPs, this summer.
I had the pleasure of speaking with bassist Theo Van Der Loo last fall and I have been keeping a close eye on the band ever since. Ego Kill Talent has a dynamic rock sound and that the thought of an acoustic EP intrigues my mind. It’s the same type of anticipation that I had for bands like Alice In Chains releasing an EP like ‘Jar Of Flies’ or the second disc of ‘In Your Honor’ by the Foo Fighters..
The band has such an extraordinary talent of writing hooks that stay with you long after the song is over. Hearing a group of talented musicians that is as tight as Ego Kill Talent is, playing in a stripped down way makes these EP’s shoot right right to the top of my must listen list.
The first EP arrives on Friday, July 9. It features “Our Song,” “Diamonds & Landmines,” and “The Reason.” Pre-order it here.
Two additional EPs will follow at dates TBA. Stay tuned for more info.
As for why EKT chose to strip down their songs for these EPs? The answer is as simple as the title of the series. “Playing these songs acoustically is like a way to immerse ourselves in the softness of our music,” says Dörr.
Ego Kill Talent are also excited for their forthcoming festival appearances, which are their debut live performances in the U.S., where they can finally perform songs from The Dance Between Extremes for fans. The dates are below.

ABOUT EGO KILL TALENT:
The story goes that Ego Kill Talent were poised for a huge 2020. They were confirmed for a spring tour of South America with Metallica and Greta Van Fleet. The band was also set to perform at the majority of the Danny Wimmer Presents Festivals in the U.S., to tour with System of a Down in Europe, and to perform at many key European festivals. All told, EKT had booked 35 shows and 21 key festivals across three continents. Since they are known for switching instruments amongst members while playing, Ego Kill Talent were eager to show off their live prowess to audiences worldwide. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent global shutdown, Ego Kill Talent, like so many others, were forced to get creative — revamping and revising tour and album release plans. Ego Kill Talent elected to split their full-length The Dance Between Extremes, which was originally due out in May 2020, into three EPs. The full album is out now. It was awarded a 5K! rating at Kerrang!
So get ready and Ego Kill Talent is poised to conquer the rock universe and I am here for it all!
