Oscar Lang Releases New Video – “21st Century Hobby”

As Oscar Lang prepares to release the full length album – Chew The Scenery on August 13, we have been treated to the sonic goodness of a few singles.  Tracks like, ‘Are You Happy’ and ‘Stuck’ are the types of songs that stick inside your head.  They bring something different from one another but somehow feel perfectly cohesive.

Lang’s latest single comes with another music video.  ’21st Century Hobby’ is audibly and visually a huge win.  The song has everything is takes to become a massive hit and will certainly become a staple on my own playlist.  Clever writing, gorgeous harmonies, throwback bass lines and a strong back beat that keeps the listener moving along to the perfect tempo.

I also love Lang’s choice of guitars throughout the song.  Acoustic and subtle guitars start the song but the distorted leads have just the right amount of grit without getting too over the top.  For me, it’s exactly what I love to hear.  I could quite literally put the pre-chorus on repeat forever and be completely content.  It’s that half step note combined with lush harmonies that put it over the top.  It’s like ‘Turn, Turn, Turn’ (The Byrds) & ‘Mind Mischief’ (Tame Impala) came together to make a new song.

Go check out the video as it does a great job of visualizing the lyrical content of the song while not being overly complicated.

Stay tuned for Chew The Scenery on August 13, 2021 via Dirty Hit
