Interview: E.G. Daily

Elizabeth Daily

13 December 2018 – If you take a look back at everything that E.G. Daily has accomplished during her career, you will find an artist, actress and proud Mother that has seen some incredible heights, over what is nearly 4 decades in the entertainment business.  She works as hard as any young actor or actress in the industry, but her positive attitude and youthful spirit keep her energized.  Her beauty shows inside and out and seems like a truly caring person.

Today, she is back with a brand new song that is not only ultra catchy, but also brings with it an important message.  E.G. Daily tells Sound Vapors, “I started writing songs with these guys and the very first song that we wrote was So Pretty.  When we left the session I was kind of like, Wow that song really feels like an important message.  It’s something that has affected me my whole life.  It affects my daughters, it affects pretty much anyone that I know.  Men, women and children of all ages.”

The song became so important, Daily decided to shoot a video for it.  Daily says, “So we cut it (the record) and then I pulled together my director, Salty State, my daughters were in it and it was really just a magical project and it just came together.  The message just kept getting more and more clear to me and more and more important as we did it.  I kept thinking, wow this is really an important message about the pressure to be, so much on the outside, that we’re missing filling up the inside.”

Here’s the video for So Pretty:

During our conversation we visited certain points of her career.  It was very interesting getting to hear Daily’s take on certain events.  I asked her if she remembered the song that she sang as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live and she was quick to say, “I remember all of those moments!  I remember them, like yesterday.”  The song was her #1 Dance hit, Say It, Say It.

We talked about her episode of Friends (which is one of my favorite episodes) and we also chatted about some of her albums.  I was pleasantly surprised to hear that my favorite song of hers, Someday, from her album, Tearing Down The Walls, was one that she used to sing as a lullaby to her daughters.

Another point in her career that we talked about was being in Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.  She is still recognized as Dottie to this day.  Daily says, “I had a lot of marriage proposals for Dottie.  I had a lot of guys that were like, I want to marry Dottie!!  I was like, that’s so cute.”

No conversation with Daily would be complete without talking about Rugrats.  We talked about her role as Tommy Pickles and also the reboot of the franchise that was recently announced.  Daily is genuinely excited, not only for whatever the future of Rugrats may be, but excited for whatever the future brings and ready to live in the moment, everyday, along the way.
