One of the busiest and creative artists around has a new E.P. coming out today. The artist is Berlin’s, Mogli and the E.P. is Patience. This five song record has a lot going on with it in a relatively short time period. There’s a short intro that leads into the title track, Patience. This self-help track was beautifully written and her voice starts to become addictive. The third song is Strobe Lights. I love the production on this track. The low end is mesmerizing and the mix is AMAZING.
My favorite track is Another Life. Mogli and I talked about this song and video extensively in our interview. It has a place on my personal playlist and is one of my favorite songs of 2019, period. Go listen. The record ends with Cryptic. It’s a great way to end the E.P. The only negative is that after the last song I was wishing there were more tracks. Not just from a listening perspective but from a – I really want to see where the story goes from here, type of thing. But we will have to wait. In the meantime I will enjoy this record.
Mogli has the world in front of her and she is taking every opportunity to take influences from her surroundings and create. She’s done this expertly in past. Mogli once converted a school bus into a mobile home and with her boyfriend at the time, traveled from Alaska to Mexico – taking in everything that came their way. They then turned that trip into a documentary called Expedition Happiness and it was picked up by Netfilx and released globally. One of my favorite parts about that trip? She was able to become inspired by her surroundings and wrote the soundtrack to the documentary that featured the beautiful song, Wanderer.
She’s also excited about the future, with good reason. She is living in a city (Berlin) which she loves. She has so much songwriting in her that she is not only releasing this new E.P., she’s already working on the next “thing”. She has fans from all over the world that are excited to see her play live. The world is truly her oyster. I’m excited to see what comes next from this amazing and talented artist.
I had the opportunity to chat with Mogli about the record, touring and a deep look into the video for Another Life.
