Interview: Tiffany

I sort of hate the phrase, “best life”.  I’ve probably seen too many Instagram posts at the coffee shop with people “living their best life” sipping from a perfectly placed cardboard cup.  But Tiffany, is truly living her best life!  She’s releasing great music, touring and playing to sold out venues.  She’s not only re-connecting with old fans, she’s making loads of new ones nearly every night.  She works extremely hard and puts in so much effort, tirelessly doing PR for her global brand.  One look at her Twitter page and you’ll soon find out.. She’s loving every minute of it.

Ever since she released her album Pieces Of Me in 2018, Tiffany has been back on my radar and playlist.  I loved the alt-rock nature of the record.  Songs like – Feels Like A Storm, Waste Of Time, Worlds Away and King Of Lies – keep me coming back to the album, again and again.  While she still has that charm that made her a worldwide sensation, this is not your parents’ Tiffany.  This one is fierce.  The songs are deep and relate to things that nearly everyone has gone through at some point.  Musically, the album takes the listener on a journey of stories and experiences she’s had over the years.

Tiffany - Pieces of Me

Earlier this summer I caught up with Tiffany to talk about the MixTape Tour she was on with New Kids On The Block, Debbie Gibson, Salt-N’-Pepa and Naughty By Nature.  She was excited to be a part of such a massive tour with people she says she, “considers family.”

She is now on the Pieces Of Me Tour and she is getting the chance to get in front of her fans and play songs from the album.  I asked her, now that people have had time to absorb the album, if there are any crowd favorites. She tells me, “Probably, Beautiful.  All of the singles like, Beautiful and the new single right now, Waste Of Time.  Everybody has a different take on this album with what’s their favorite.  Feels Like A Storm, some like The Fall, which would never be a single because it’s like, kind of a throwback to old school.. probably Led Zeppelin.  Probably a little, Heart.  Those albums, you know, you used to just listen to a good album.  It wasn’t all single cuts.  It was more of an experience.  A physical experience.”

Of course, if you attend one of these shows you’re sure to hear some retro classics like Could’ve Been and I Think We’re Alone Now.  Tiffany recorded and also released a video for the updated version of that song, that has really taken off.  She says, “The 2019 version is a little more sassy!  A little more current.  We released the video where I went back to my hometown, went to the spots that had all the original sites.  And then added some fun things that make me who I am and my friends and going back to my high school, which wasn’t in the original video.  Then like in a month of releasing it, it got over a million hits – views.  I was really excited about that!”  She also tells me that she has begun recording a new album and says, We’re five songs into the new album already and it will probably come out around March or April.”  I am looking forward to hearing what Tiffany and the band comes up with.

I was also able to ask some personal questions – like: Her favorite food to cook for people, her preference of Tea to Coffee, her favorite records and.. Michael Jackson or Prince?  There’s some pretty fun responses inside our chat.  You can hear my entire conversation with Tiffany by clicking on one of the links below to your favorite place to listen to podcasts.
