Miranda Lambert – The Marfa Tapes

Country music star Miranda Lambert has announced via her Instagram that she will be releasing a new album with Texan singer-songwriters Jack Ingram and Jon Randall. The new album is called ‘The Marfa Tapes’ and is due out May 7 via Vanner Records/RCA Nashville. The trio also released the first single off the new album titled “In His Arms”. This is not the first time that Lambert has worked with Ingram and Randall. In 2016 they worked together on Lambert’s “Tin Man” and “Tequila Does” in 2019. 

Lambert said of the new album:

“Marfa Tapes. A project by @jackingram, @jonrandallmusic and me. Recorded in Marfa, TX. They’re raw. You can hear the wind blowing, the cows mooing… We wanted you to feel like you were right there with us, sitting around the campfire, escaping the world, disappearing into the music. First song, “In His Arms,” out at Midnight ET tonight.  Album out May 7.”

In another Instagram post she explained that the songs were recorded in one take and are “meant to be very raw, real and in the moment”. The video for “In His Arms” seems to echo this as it shows the three of them in the desert for a very stripped down video and sound. Lambert also explains on Instagram that Marfa, Texas is a place that the trio goes to recharge and inevitably write music together. ‘The Marfa Tapes’ are a collection of the songs that they have written during these getaways.
