‘More Than I Dared’ by Tony Lewis Released Posthumously

Tony Lewis and his band The Outfield made some great music together and in the 1980’s much of their work could be heard all over the radio.  They had six songs chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and a total of eight for their career.  The song “Your Love” can still be heard on the radio and is a staple on SiriusXM’s Big 80’s.

Lewis continued making music and was in the middle of working on his new album when he passed away on October 19, 2020 at the young age of 62.

Lewis recorded and produced the songs alongside his wife Carol, who penned the lyrics. More Than I Dared (Madison Records) was engineered/mixed by Wyatt Oates (Blackberry Smoke, Outkast) with additional engineering and drums by Tanner Hendon, and mastered by Ken Lanyon (Fozzy, Neadtobreathe).  Lewis had chosen the name of the EP as he felt his solo career was more than he dared would happen.

100% of the net proceeds from the initial release of More Than I Dared will be donated to MusiCares, an organization Lewis was very fond of, as he always wanted to support his fellow musicians.

One of the tracks from the EP – Gonna Make You Love Me has been released as a single with an accompanying music video.  The song is a reminder of not only his excellent songwriting capabilities but also of his unmistakable voice.

The video is filled with many warm smiles from Lewis and clips of him performing.  It’s clear that playing live music and connecting with fans was an important part of his life.  There’s a very nice tribute at the end of the video the reads:

We’ll always love you.  You are, were and always will be irreplaceable.

Tony Lewis will definitely be missed.
