New Listen: Brad Lee Curtis, “Surrender”
Brad Lee Curtis has released “Surrender,” his debut solo artist single. I love finding a new artist breaking through in the industry. Brad Lee Curtis is talented and has a calm Indie sound that feels like it could be played in any modern time. “Surrender” lies somewhere between a current Indie/ Triple A song and a softer rock ballad. The drums keep it more upbeat sounding, the lyrics are clear and uplifting while the guitar is pushing through to sound more and more of a rock song. Here is what Brad Lee Curtis had to say about “Surrender”:
“When I wrote ‘Surrender’ the music came first so I was trying to find the right words to fit,” explains Curtis. “I kept envisioning these desolate desert scenes in my mind and this idea of going through an existential journey. It was something I think I was going through at the time. I was struggling to figure out what direction to take and was starting to regret my decision to move to Nashville.”
“Surrender” may take on a different meaning to whoever is listening. One thing is sure, there was a lot of emotion and dedication that went into writing and creating this song. The video is a perfect backdrop to the challenges and journey that is suggested in the song and provides some beautiful scenery to coincide with this song. I’m looking forward to hearing what comes next from Brad Lee Curtis.
