New Listen: Kesha – My Own Dance

Kesha is back with the fierce, unapologetic track My Own Dance.  She’s already shown us what she’s bringing this time around with her first single Raising Hell featuring Big Freedia.  This one does not let up on the gas. Both songs have been released in anticipation of her new music and full length album High Road coming 01.10.20 via RCA Records/Kemosabe.

My Own Dance, written by Kesha with John Hill, Justin Tranter and Dan Reynolds was also produced by Kesha and John Hill.  The song, which lyrically creates a space where you embrace who you are and where you’ve been.  It’s about the journey and the dance through life.  There’s a line that seriously slays me: “the internet called and it wants you back, but could you kinda rap and not be so sad?”  Kesha playfully takes a look inside of herself but does it in the most swag/bossy way.  She absolutely nailed it.

The video, directed by Allie Avital, is quite simply a crazy journey.  It’s just as playful and fun as the lyrics in the song.  As she is on a quest for her cereal she encounters.. actually, no.  Go watch.  I’ll give you one thing, though.  Those girls gave me The Shining chills.  For real.

Now give this one a watch on YouTube.

Now that you’ve watched the video, get ready to catch Kesha and Big Freedia join forces again on the American Music Awards – November 24th.
