Arguably, the biggest winner to come out of the big Tyson vs. Jones fight on Saturday was not one of the boxers but it was Snoop Dogg. Snoop was praised for his commentary during the Jake Paul vs. Nate Robinson and Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. fights. His performance left many fans hoping we would get to see more of it in the future. Well, if you were one of those fans then you are in luck.
Co-owner of Triller, Ryan Kavanaugh, announced on Tuesday that him and Snoop will be working together to form a new boxing league called The Fight Club. In fact, Kavanaugh noted that Saturday’s fight was actually the first event for the new company. Kavanaugh said, “This is gonna be big. The whole idea is we want to change up the way that boxing is done.” Kavanaugh also promised that there would be “many, many events” in the future.
Kavanaugh said that not only will Snoop do commentary for future fights but he will also be involved in the booking of musical acts and future fights.
According to Kavanaugh The Fight Club will feature sanctioned and non-sanctioned fights just as Saturday’s event did.
During Saturday’s big event, along with commentary, Snoop performed some his biggest hits when he replaced Lil Wayne after Wayne had to back out.
There is no word on specifics about future events for The Fight Club but Kavanaugh teased that they have big things in the pipeline that they are currently working on. Kavanaugh said, “I can tell you that the main fight—I can’t say it yet—but it’s gonna be something that everybody wants to see. If you thought [Tyson vs. Jones] is big, I think that this would be even larger from a worldwide-appetite perspective and something that people want to see.”
Hopefully, this new endeavor works out because the future of boxing could really use a shot in the arm to compete with the UFC.
