The Tentop-ten

Top Ten Favorite Front Men

Time for a Top Ten list, this time it’s the my Ten Favorite Front Men in a rock band.  Springsteen and Seger are ineligible due to them being solo performers who having a backing band

1.     Mick Jagger – The Rolling Stones:  No contest, easily the best front man.  After 50 years that rooster move still works.

2.     Bono – U2:  When I see live concerts I try to watch the band perform, but with Bono’s charisma and presence it’s next to impossible.
 .

3.     Freddie Mercury – Queen:  One of the most versatile performers in music.  From his voice to his use to the microphone he’s amazing.

4.     Robert Plant – Led Zeppelin:  The man who really created the swaggering blonde front man in rock.  Easily the best hair on the list.

5.     David Byrne – Talking Heads:  Not sure if the Talking Heads are considered a rock band, but Byrne deserves his place for being the coolest nerd in rock.

6.     Jim Morrison – The Doors:  As long as he doesn’t go insane, Morrison is as good as it gets.

7.     David Lee Roth – Van Halen:  Attitude that normally would be for a punk band, works perfectly with heavy metal.

8.     Roger Daltrey – The Who:  The spinning microphone is a pretty cool trick.

9.     Steven Tyler – Aerosmith:  Sometimes he’s annoying, but I can’t deny the charisma.

10.   Brian Johnson – AC/DC:  Tough call between him and Scott, but a prefer the blue collar persona over that craziness of Scott.  I know I’m in the minority.
