Dinosaur Jr Set To Return With New Album

Dinosaur Jr – Sweep It Into Space

Alternative rock pioneers, Dinosaur Jr, have announced they will be releasing their new album due out April 23. The album is titled ‘Sweep It Into Space’ and will be released via indie label Jagjaguwar. This will be the band’s first studio album since the release of ‘Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not’ in 2016 and their twelfth studio album overall. Along with the album Dinosaur Jr also released their new song “I Ran Away”. You can check out the new song below.

‘Sweep It Into Space’ was co-produced by Kurt Vile who also played lead 12-string on “I Ran Away”. The album was originally going to come out in mid-2020, but as with many things over the past year was pushed back due to Covid-19. Recording originally began in the fall of 2019 but was delayed in March of 2020. In spite of the delay lead singer J Mascis was able to continue work on the album. Mascis said he, “ended up just mimicking a few things he’d done. I was listening to a lot of  Thin Lizzy, so I was trying to get some of that dueling twin lead sound. But the recording session was pretty well finished by the time things really hit the fan. When the lockdown happened in March, that meant I was on my own. But it was cool.”

Dinosaur Jr released their debut album in 1985 and released their breakthrough album ‘You’re Living All Over Me’ in 1987.
