KT Tunstall is back and this time she’s bringing a simple but effective message: Wash Ya Hands.
Tunstall launched her new song + video for “Wash Ya Hands” to not only help get the word out to remind people to wash their hands but to raise money for some great causes that are supporting children effected by the Covid19 pandemic as well as encouraging and educating people about the positive effect of properly washing their hands. This includes portable hand washing stations. Go to Warchild.org & WaterAid.org for more information.
Tunstall wants this to be an interactive event as well. So in addition to donated proceeds from the new single to those charities, she gives instructions in her new “Wash Ya Hands” video how to be included in the official video that will be released later on down the road.
That’s right, you might be one of the stars in the forthcoming video. Dance, sing along, wash your hands or do whatever makes you move to the beat but capture the footage with your phone and submit it to KT and you may end up in the video. Details are in the video for the #KTKollaboration
It’s a great way to bring light to a serious subject all the while getting fun fan engagement and participation. A true win all around.
The song keeps the mood: party all the way through. The straight beat will have you moving. Her voice has that signature tone and control that Tunstall has become known for. Musically, there are some really great production aspects to the song. Bongos, fatty snare and some great pre-chorus moments that gives the song depth and a nice breather before the chorus jumps back in and gets back at it. The Freelance Hellraiser (aka Roy Kerr – one half of MyRiot) does a great job producing this track.
The bridge has a nice breakdown featuring UK beatbox champion Grace Savage and completes the funky feel of the song. The video also showcases Savage contributing from afar and gives an idea of what type of fan-shot could be in the final video.
So give this one a watch, press record on your camera and wash ya hands.
Oh – and don’t forget your thumbs.
