Wrestlemania 37 Night One Preview

Wrestlemania 37 – Night One

Wrestlemania 37 should be memorable if only for the fact that it will be the first wrestling show in front of a crowd this size in over a year. “The Super Bowl of Sports Entertainment” will take place this year at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida. This is the same venue Wrestlemania was supposed to take place at last year before Covid-19 shut everything down and forced WWE to move the event to the WWE Performance Center in front of no crowd. This year there will be a crowd of about 25,000 fans in attendance and should make a make a big difference to the experience. One of the big questions going into this year is what match will they choose to start the show. The first big crowd pop in over year is sure to be something special.

Just like last year the event will take place over two nights with the first night starting at 8 PM on Saturday, April 10 on the Peacock TV app. There will be a pre-show that begins at 7 PM but I’m hoping they reserve any matches for the start of the main show after most people have found their way to their seats. The first match should be special and I would imagine those in WWE feel the same way. My prediction for the first match will be Seth Rollins vs Caesaro as both of these guys can really go and I would imagine will hold nothing back while trying to entertain the crowd in attendance and those watching from home. My second guess for the opening match is Bobby Lashley vs Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship. I can see this opening the show but realistically it should be the main event for night one.

Without further delay here is my preview Wrestlemania 37 Night One.

Seth Rollins vs Caesaro

As I mentioned earlier I am predicting that this match will open the show. I am also predicting that these guys will put on a banger of a match and could end up being the best match of both nights. WWE has done a really good job building Caesaro over the past few months and I expect that win or lose both Caesaro and Seth will look good when the match is over. I think the win benefits Caesaro more, so Caesaro is my prediction in this match.

Prediction: Caesaro

The New Day (c) vs AJ Style and Omos – Raw Tag Team Championship Match

I’m not really sure how I feel about this match. Omos is very green and the fact that AJ and Omos are getting a title match at Wrestlemania doesn’t make a lot of sense. However, with AJ, Kofi, and Xavier Woods involved Omos should be in pretty good hands. It is going to be on them to make Omos look good. Omos has been great as a bodyguard for AJ but I’m not sure I want to see them as a full-fledged tag team. I wouldn’t be surprised if this match starts the breakup of AJ and Omos and they start feuding at some point after Wrestlemania.

Prediction: The New Day

Shane McMahon vs Braun Strowman – Steel Cage Match

I have not been into the build for this match at all. Shane running around calling Braun dumb is just not doing it for me. It also makes me think back to Shane’s match with Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell Match at Wrestlemania 32. The time they spent inside the cell was incredibly boring until the end when Shane climbed atop the cell and jumped off. I expect this to be similar. The match will be boring until Shane jumps off of something high. It is kind of what a Shane McMahon match has come to be.

Prediction: Hopefully Braun Strowman

The Miz and John Morrison vs Bad Bunny and Damian Priest

This might be the most controversial match at Wrestlemania 37. Since Bad Bunny did the dive to the floor off the top rope on the Raw after Royal Rumble Bad Bunny’s presence in WWE has been pretty polarizing. The big knock against WWE in recent years has been their lack of young fans. To grow a young fan base WWE wisely chose a celebrity who is popular with young people and also insanely popular internationally. Since they have brought him in he has sold a lot of merchandise and pushed the product on his social media platforms. My prediction is that Damian Priest will hit his finisher on The Miz and then Bad Bunny will hit a splash off the top rope for the win.

Prediction: Bad Bunny and Damian Priest

Sasha Banks (c) vs Bianca Belair – Smackdown Women’s Championship

This is my third choice to start Night One. I think these two women have the ability to put on a great match and will probably succeed. Belair is insanely athletic and Sasha has proven she can have a great match with several different women. The feud hasn’t had a great build but I don’t think that will hold the match back at all. I am going to predict a Bianca Belair win but I want to hedge that with Sasha winning via help from Bailey. Bailey doesn’t have a match on the show so it makes me wonder what WWE has in store for her.

Prediction: Bianca Belair

Bobby Lashley (c) vs Drew McIntyre – WWE Championship Match

Both of these guys have been built really well going into this match. One of the biggest gripes about WWE booking in recent years is that they don’t know how to make guys look strong. That has not been the case for either one of them. The addition of MVP as the voice for Lashley has been invaluable to Lashley’s career. Even with the great Lashley build I think match only exists for Drew to win and get the Wrestlemania moment that he was robbed of last year with no fans in attendance when he won the championship against Brock Lesnar.

Prediction: Drew McIntyre
